Rating description: 

  • Fully met: The policy sets clear expectations on pupil, staff and parent conduct (including physical contact and online conduct) written in accessible language and is written with contributions from the whole school community.
  • Partially met: The policy sets expectations on pupil, staff and parent conduct. It is not clear and/or doesn’t set out physical and online conduct and / or is not written in accessible language.
  • Not yet met: The policy does not set out clear exceptions on pupils, staff and parent conduct.

Tips:

  • Speak to the whole-school community about what is acceptable and what isn't. Ensure this includes feedback from parents, staff and pupils
  • Set clear boundaries and make sure these are understood by all pupils. Bullying thrives in cultures where name-calling, unwanted touch, rumour mongering and disrespect go unchallenged. Think carefully about physical contact between members of your community and what is and isn’t acceptable.

  • Do you have a pupils/school contract / ethos that you can build on which sets out expectations?
  • Be clear with parents and pupils about lines of communication
  • Link these expectations with your behaviour policy

Our policy talks about the expectations of conduct for parents, staff and children.  These clear boundaries are clarified during anti bullying week, assemblies, kindness days and parent drop in days.  We invite parents in annually to go through the policy so we can explore and explain.  The children in KS2 children have a log book which they carry with them from the start of the year in which they agree to follow the school ethos and expectations of behaviour and online behaviour.  The policy sets out clear instructions for all parties on lines of communication if there are concerns.  This is also mentioned in our behaviour policy which has been recently reviewed and updated.
