Making the most of Mental Health Awareness Week

Did you know that it's Mental Health Awareness Week this week? It's from the 14th - 20th May and provides an opportunity to get talking about mental health and wellbeing. There is a wealth of resources available and we've selected just a few below to help you get started. The list is not exhaustive but we hope it is useful

Classroom resources 

  • Anna Freud Centre's child mental health experts have also developed a booklet: ‘Supporting mental health and wellbeing in schools’, a series of expert advice films which offer practical guidance about what teachers can do in the classroom to support mental health, and what to do if they are concerned about a child and a leaflet for parents and carers offering tips to talking mental health with children.
  • Anna Freud have developed some classroom resources including lesson plans, films and case studies about how to implement them and help talk about mental health in schools

  • Moodscope offer a tool to help measure your mood as well as an excellent daily blog you can receive via email and highly recommended by us.

Bullying and Mental Health 

ABA worked with Anna Freud Centre in 2014 to develop guidance for schools about the impact of bullying on mental health after consulting with young people. It has an accompanying presentation school leaders can use in training
